After surviving cancer, a 21-year-old husband and his wife made a decision that changed the course of their lives. Instead of returning to the city after months of hospital visits and treatment, they left their jobs behind and returned to his rural hometown to restore the abandoned house where he had grown up.

The house had been empty for nearly fifteen years. Thick weeds covered the yard, the roof leaked in several places, broken windows had let birds move inside, and every room was filled with dust, old furniture, and memories from another time. With most of their savings spent on medical treatment, they couldn't afford a complete renovation, so they reused old materials whenever possible and learned new construction skills along the way.
