Put the shingle in place and mark where it intersects the valley lock.

You will want to cut the shingles 5/8” bigger than your mark. Remove the top and bottom locks on the shingle so that you are only bending one thickness of metal.

You can use a tool or, simply use the existing shingles to create the bend.

In this scenario you will need 2 different shingles to complete the valley. Install the first shingle and then use leftover pieces to install a smaller piece to finish the valley.
