I like the Hood Scoop. It is well made and should last a number of years. In the directions it mentions that you can turn it with the scoop either forward or backwards.
I turned it with the scoop facing the windshield. There is not a lot of snow in Texas but I wanted to keep the bugs, dirt and debris from being sucked in.
Supposedly you can increase the air coming in by turning it forwards but that is not an issue with me; when the weather is good I have the windows down and often the soft top as well.
I have never needed the fan on high and so I do not really need the extra airflow. I never realized that the air grill was offset from the center of the jeep until I installed this device.
The only problem that I have after looking at it is the price; the price should have been $20 less.
Fits well on a 2001 Jeep Wrangler. I used rare earth magnets stuck to the double back tape supplied on the four corners and a couple along the long closed end to mount to the vehicle instead of gluing it down with the supplied/applied double stick tape.
That way when leaves, trash, etc. get under it (and they do) I can just lift if off the Jeep, clean it up and then lay it back down. I used 1/8" thick 1/2" diameter magnets.
I suggest that between the magnets you apply strips of rubber about 3/16" thick, also stuck to the supplied adhesive tape, to keep if from sliding on the magnets when the wind hits it at highway speeds "just in case".
looks great pretty tough I installed it with the intake facing windshield it helps keep water out.
Made from very sturdy plastic. install took no time at all. if your worried about tapping to your jeep, i wouldnt be. its very strong and wont move a inch.
At high speeds on the highway, or pushing on it while washing it will be just fine. looks great also. i was going to face it forward to help force in air but it actually looked a lot better facing the windshield.
also if you face the windshield, it will hide the grill all together witch actually covers up any slight errors in placement.
You will understand what i mean when you place it on the jeep to see witch way you like more.... over all i love it, very strong, great addition to the jeep, super easy install Ps: It doesnt show it in the picture but it comes with two bushwacker emblems to stick on the sides of the scoop witch looks really great.
Just spend the little extra ten dollars on this product! Is worth buying! I seen a few people with little scoops but don't even come close to the bushwacker brand!
2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara: Fits perfect. My only gripe is up here in Upstate NY the winters are bad enough that Im worried about this thing packing full of snow and restricting air.
